I've a 44.1KHz, stereo wav file, and I want to convert it to MP3, however, I've found that some of the MP3 formats produced with twolame don't work on my Sony Walkman.

For example, if I use 'twolame in.wav out.mp3', the MP3 player does not recognise the mp3 file format.
